Puerto Vallarta & Guadalajara, Mexico

¡Feliz año nuevo! / Happy New Year everyone and hello from Mexico!!!

Pedro and I arrived in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on December 29th, just in time to kick off the New Years celebration.  And it also happens to be Pedro’s Birthday (Jan 1) so this was a very special trip for us.

We were lucky enough to have coordinated our calendars with our dear friend Denis who was MOST helpful in pre-arranging some activities and dinner reservations.  Thank you Denis!!!  The trip wouldn’t have been the same without your help!

We had some very relaxing beach time at Blue Chairs (great weather, margaritas, guacamole and chips, and even a foot massage on the beach – does it get any better???)

We enjoyed an incredible New Years celebration on the beach with a lovely dinner, cocktails, and fireworks!  We even set our wishes into the universe with sky lanterns.  The sky filled the air with hundreds of them, bound to the skies with dreams of a joyous 2018.  The occasion was not missed on Pedro and me as we have so much to be thankful for and so many dreams already realized.  Such beauty on such a magical night.

We had an amazing boat trip day to one of the fishing villages where we all enjoyed some delicious freshly caught seafood plus anytime on the water, is a special day for us.

We had some absolutely amazing meals in some beautiful settings, our favorites being Hacienda San Angel, LeKliff, and Cafe des Artistes.  Although anytime you have a full-on mariachi band, you’re going to ultimately win our vote – Hacienda San Angel, you won our hearts from the first note of Besa me Mucho!  🙂

After some nice beach time, hanging out with our friend Denis, and some good eating (and even a little gym time), we headed off to Guadalajara.

We had such perfect weather in Guadalajara the entire trip and we thoroughly enjoyed our neighborhood named Chapultepec in the Zona Rosa area.

Our favorite discovery was Rio Viejo and our lovely waitress / manager Elizabeth took great care of us!  We enjoyed it so much we went back twice!  Authentic but creative Mexico food. You can’t go wrong.

We did some site-seeing of course and found the people just as friendly as the folks from Puerto Vallarta.  A really lovely time.

We are now in Mexico City for a few weeks.  Will publish an update on this stay as we head out.  Until next time…
