Yes, if that clue wasn’t enough (with literal translation vs our more familiar English version), we are in Ipanema Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil! After spending a few weeks with family in the “country” we decided a little beach, a few Caipirinha’s, and listening to some bossa nova music was in order.
We’ve been able to visit with one of Pedro’s aunts (Rachel), our friends Joelson and Marcelo, and a few others on the schedule before heading back to Belo Horizonte. Today hasn’t been the best weather, but we got a workout in and walk/run at the beach. Its wonderful how they close the street heading east (nearest the beach) on Sundays to allow families, walkers, joggers, bikers, and all other sorts to take a stroll along this iconic street (avenue Vieira Souto) where Post 9 welcomes the gays, the straights, and anybody else wanting to have a good time.
Earlier in the week we took in some site seeing at Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf) and also a walk/run at Lagoa which is approximately 4.5 miles around the lagoon, infamous for its pollution during the olympics unfortunately, but a lovely walking/running track with all sorts of restaurants, coconut water, and workout areas along the way. I say walk/run as I am walking and Pedro is doing the running! 😯😁👌
Look forward to sharing more with you in the near future! Warmest hugs and kisses!
Lance & Pedro
